Audi e-tron quattro concept teased
The Audi e-tron quattro concept has been designed from the ground up as an electric car rather than modifying an existing model, and would be Audi’s first “large-series” electric vehicle, with a length somewhere in between the existing Audi Q5 and Q7 models.
The design follows Audi’s “Aerosthetics” concept, with movable aerodynamic elements all around the cars body and an aerodynamically optimized closed underbody improving air flow it achieves a drag coefficient cd value of 0.25 which it seems is some kind of record in the SUV market. The slipperyness of the design plays a big part in the cars range of 310 miles which is fairly impressive for a large vehicle.
The design is based on Audi’s second-generation “modular longitudinal platform” with a large lithium-ion battery slung low below the cabin in between the cars axles. This gives a low centre of gravity and better weight distribution. The drive Audi e-tron quattro concept drive system comprises three electric motors – one on the front axle and two on the rear axle.
Audi will be unveiling the concept version of the all electric E-tron Quattro Concept at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September.
