With the launch of the iPad Pro, Apple may finally be able to offer a true replacement for your laptop tablet. Seeming to us like a response to Microsoft’s Surface Pro, the new iPad aims to be a device for doing -getting work done rather than just consuming content.
In appearance the Pro looks like a super-sized Ipad with its 12.9 inch screen it certainly is larger (78% larger than an iPad Air 2), but it’s not just bigger. With a screen resolution of 2732 x 2048 it’s also the highest resolution screen of any Apple device. Despite the large screen it’s very portable at only 6.9 mm in thickness and weighing in at only 1.57 pounds.
Input gets Smarter
Impressive features such as the Smart Keyboard (which uses a woven conductive fabric to allow the transmission of data and power between keyboard and iPad) and the Apple Pencil which can draw, point etc, make it a very versatile machine. Apple have also managed to squeeze four speakers inside the ultra-thin case which gives better quality and louder sound than the smaller iPad versions.
Performance is guaranteed with the powerful A9X 64-bit chip. Apple claim it’s “Faster than 80% of portable PCs ” meaning the iPad pro is able to do any tasks usually performed on a desktop computer such as RAW photo or 4K video editing. All this however is not at the expense of battery life, as it can last for up to 10 hours.
The iPad Pro will be available from November in three colours, silver, gold and space grey.
