Kinect 2: Powerful Enough To Lip Read

According to an article posted on gaming site Eurogamer, the next-generation Kinect device will be “so accurate it can lip read”.

Citing a development source, Eurogamer claim that the second generation Kinect will be powerful enough to lip read, tell which way you are facing and even detect the players mood! And, rather than being an optional add-on accessory, Kinect 2 will come bundled with a future Xbox.

Apparently Kinect is currently limited by the neccessity of it’s USB cable interface to the Xbox 360 console, capping the resolution to it’s current 320×240 limit due to data transfer issues with the USB controller interface.

According to the source, Kinect 2 will be a Charge-coupled device or CCD, capable of feeding more data a therefore a greater resolution will be possible.

“It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?” the source said.

We have also heard rumours of the next version of the Xbox making an appearance at the CES 2012 but there’s nothing concrete as is the norm with rumours!   More news as we get it.

[USER] Xbox, Open the pod bay doors,

    [XBOX] I’m sorry. I’m afraid I can’t do that

LOL Hopefully it will be a little more user friendly than Hal!

On reflection maybe we’d have more luck asking it to open the drive tray door…
