Kinect for Windows coming in February
Microsoft have announced that Kinect for Windows will be officially coming to the PC in February. In the last Microsoft keynote at CES 2012, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed the launch date- but little else.
What we do know is that the Windows version of the Kinect device will work at much closer distances, but the type of gesture controls or user interface it will use is still a mystery.
Proper Windows compatibility will mean even more possible applications beyond gaming for the motion-sensing system, and will mean far less hacking of the device for unorthodox uses will be required.
Kinect has a huge future ahead of it, and with Windows users joining in the fun, the number of Kinect units out there should continue to grow beyond the already impressive 18 million sold.
