Microsoft Detail The New Xbox 360’s Combined CPU/GPU
The new Xbox has been out a little while now, and although we know it uses less power and runs cooler, we don’t really know how is was achieved. Until now that is.
Microsoft have revealed that the new 45nm system-on-a-chip, codenamed Vejle used in it’s latest console has only 372 million transistors, uses 40% of the power and less than half of the die space of the old 2005 hardware. The ironic thing about the new hardware is that the new integrated chip has to be slowed down to match the older spec Xbox using an “FSB replacement block” designed to induce lag!
