Next Xbox Console will be 6x as powerful, shipping late 2013

It’s looking likely we’ll be seeing the next generation Xbox sooner rather than later, with IGN’s sources claiming a late 2013 release to retailers.  The as yet unnamed replacement for the Xbox 360 is reported to be packing an AMD 6000 series based GPU and will boast performance that bests Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U by twenty percent, whilst graphics processing power will be six times that of the outgoing Xbox model.

Developers will most likely receive their development kits by August when the system specs will be finalised. The Xbox 720 or whatever Microsoft name it will also have on-board Kinect and PVR functionality as we have reported previously.   No pricing information is available as yet.
