Windows Phone 7: Microsoft Announces Launch Partners

Microsoft have announced the hardware manufacturers who will be producing the first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices.

Speaking to Pocket Lint, Microsoft Senior Prodcuct Manager Greg Sullivan said to expect phones from ASUS, Dell, LG, Samsung and HTC for the launch of Windows Phone 7, although they wouldn’t confirm when the launch will actually be.

He also confirmed that the Windows Phone 7 OS would not be tied to any one network operator either in the UK or US.

“We want as many people as possible to be able to get it”, said Sullivan.

With the new OS, Microsoft hope to gain ground on their competitors by combining the strengths of the leading mobile platforms

“We will offer the best aspects of Android and the best of the iPhone, giving users the flexibility of different form factors, but with the rigidity of apps that are guaranteed to work on every device that is out there”,

We think this is all exciting news for mobile users- with these manufacturers on board Windows phone 7 is looking more promising, especially with theĀ  newer entries to the mobile fray such as ASUS and Dell we’re looking forward to seeing the first models.
