Xbox Live update brings 4oD and Demand 5
Xbox LIVE subscribers in the UK can now access Channel 4 and 5 content on-demand after Microsoft rolled-out it’s latest update to it’s video offering.
Following the earlier release of YouTube and Lovefilm earlier this month, Microsoft have added 4oD and Demand 5 video apps to the service.
Taking a quick look today, the highlights for us on Demand 5 will be The Gadget Show, Neighbours and The Hotel Inspector though we found it slightly harder to find what we wanted by category or search when compared with the excellent “Catch Up” section of the 4oD app, showing all programmes by date- making it easy to find a show you’ve missed. It just seems to be easier to browse on 4oD, with content such as Deal or No Deal, Hollyoaks and Fonejacker available to name but a few. We may be wrong but at first impression the 4oD app also has more content. Let us know what you think.
The Xbox is now much more than a games machine, with users now able to access entertainment from a variety of sources from Sky, Blinkbox, Sony, MSN Video, Lovefilm and more all via app downloads.
The Dailymotion (similar to YouTube) app is also available now in the UK (and 34 other territories), while US viewers can now access content from Vudu and UFC channels. The BBC iPlayer app is expected to arrive in 2012.
